Programs & Fields of Study in Hungary

Hungarian universities offer bachelor’s, master’s, PhD, and preparatory programmes across a wide range of fields, taught in English and in Hungarian. Mobedum helps you understand your options and find the degree and field that fit your academic background, goals, and budget.

DEGREE LEVELS

Hungarian universities offer academic pathways for every stage of study, from foundation programmes to doctoral research. Exact structure and duration vary by university and field.

Undergraduate degrees that typically take 3 to 4 years to complete, depending on the field of study.

Graduate degrees that typically take 1 to 2 years, building on a completed bachelor’s degree.

Doctoral research programmes for students pursuing advanced, independent research in their field.

A preparatory year of academic and language study for students who need extra preparation before starting a full degree programme.

FIELDS OF STUDY

A look at some of the fields international students commonly pursue in Hungary. Availability, curriculum, and teaching language vary by university and programme.

Programmes spanning mechanical, electrical, civil, and other engineering disciplines focused on technical and applied skills.

Business administration, finance, management, and economics programmes preparing students for international careers.

Computer science, software engineering, and information technology programmes covering programming, data, and systems.

Legal studies programmes covering national and international law; practicing law abroad may require additional local qualification.

Biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and environmental science programmes with research and laboratory components.

Programmes in fine arts, design, architecture, and applied arts developing creative and technical practice.

TEACHING LANGUAGE

Teaching language is one of the first things to check when comparing programmes, and it is one of the key filters Mobedum uses when matching students to suitable options.

Many bachelor’s and master’s programmes — including in business, engineering, IT, and medicine — are delivered fully in English, so no Hungarian language skills are required to study them.

Some public university programmes, and certain state-funded seats, are taught in Hungarian and generally require a recognised level of Hungarian language proficiency, sometimes gained through a preparatory year.

Language requirements and the mix of English- versus Hungarian-taught seats vary by university and by programme, and are set by the institutions themselves. Mobedum helps you check the teaching language for each programme you’re considering before you apply.

PROGRAM MATCHING

Rather than pointing you toward a generic list of universities, Mobedum looks at your academic background, career goals, budget, and language preference to recommend programmes that are realistically suited to you. We support your application and help you compare options — admission decisions are made exclusively by the university, and no admission or visa outcome can be guaranteed.

Mobedum is an independent education consultancy and is not an official representative of any specific Hungarian university or government body unless explicitly stated for a particular programme. Immigration decisions are made exclusively by the competent Hungarian authorities.
